Classic city sprint vibes, complete with many drunk pedestrians, aggressive Uber drivers and random cheer squads. Ran really strongly today, dropping below 3min/km on most medium legs and still maintaining a clear head. Made one tiny mistake misreading some stairs (2s maybe)

Pleased to hold it together physically all the way to the end, and finished stronger than I started even. Gave me a great platform to orienteer off and made some really good route choice decisions I think (eg 21, 25 spotting the stair traps). Made a mistake on 27 looking ahead too far and running to the wrong carpark corner, then accidentally went through the oob coming out of 27 (construction no longer exists so understandable). Good session.

Felt pretty good and strong, and was reading ahead ok. New building/road around 10-2 which made those controls a bit weird plus the map was pretty bad from 12-14.

Pretty physical training again in the Slater jungle. Had the energy for it but just not the strength yet - had to walk one or two bits near the start to stretch out my calfs. Mistakes: 6 was a poor attack point (big depr, should have been big reentrant in the E of circle), 18: Lost concentration and didn't identify an attackpoint. 26: Pushed by the terrain north, needed a strong compass from the big depression attackpoint on the track.

Forest is pretty choked with dense as cutty grass and scratchy bushes now unfortunately. Pretty physical, very tricky too as the contours are much harder to see (ontop of being pretty poorly mapped). Area around 11,12,13 and 26 onwards was particularly bad and ended up skipping them as it was basically impossible to run. I was very rusty but had heaps more speed in the tank to give.

Another great session, really strong on the hills through Albert Park which was very pleasing. Was planning ahead much better, reading the fine details well through the second half (even navigated the unmapped construction). Fun!

Longer training this week, more ruthless with bush and hills. Some weird bits as a result of unmapped construction or poor mapping (lol the leg to 17). The wind made it extra ruthless.

Lost 4 minutes on 46 - was in the wrong place. Not sure if the map was wrong or GPS wrong - probably a combo of both as I found it on a rock next to the track and in a reentrant.

Not very pretty. Decent to 5 but then caked it on a slippery grass hillside to 6. Covered in mud, map was ruined (hence the deviation to the start on 7-8 for a new map lol. Put me off and I started running quite weak through 10-15 with some bad mistakes on 13 and 14.

Taking it easy. Mucked 5-6 pretty bad, the greens had changed and I didn't understand the contours NE of 5-6. Got back on track with only a few small mistakes to the end. Beautiful terrain!

Part 2. Totally lost the plot on 22. Can't believe how close to the control I was, tbf I thought I was 400m south and had lost map contact halfway along the leg. Didn't even register the track. Lost time on 25 - track didn't exist but then I stood in the circle confused for 20-30s. Need to go back to orienteering school...

Made a massive mistake on 3. Didn't look around enough, tunnel vision and parrallel mistake. Lost a lot of time on that and some more bits and pieces across most legs on part 1 (lots of bad route choices). Was running quite fast but nav super rusty.
