Another awesome race in world class terrain. Again, a good start; agressive, confident and in control. Then lost some of the flow after the big climb to 9, never qutie regaining it. Big miss to the 13th, then a smaller mistake to the 14th. Great weekend on the whole :).

Sick! Amazing terrain, pure. Really good start, then lost some speed towards the 8th. Mistakes started to creep in after 15 as I got tired, especially to the last control. Still awesome fun and satisfying to put a strong performance together.

Nice orienteering session before Aussie Long and Middle Championships next weekend. Two parts, this is "Round 2" as the gps was incomplete for the first part of the training. Tough green wet terrain, and really slow, but still had a good feeling. Knee is still midly sore from haematoma I picked up last week, but confident that it will come right before next weekend.

Beginning specific focus towards Aus Champs, hence went through the routines prior to the race. Body not feeling the greatest, but should improve in the coming weeks. Race went mostly good, but some direction problems towards 9 and then minor hesitations at 10 and 11. Rest was ok apart from having to search for 16, which was in the wrong re-entrant losing 2ish minutes.

Cool training with Cameron and Dwayne. Forgot my compass which made it a bit more challenging. Corridor went ok (before I had started the gps) then lost contact towards the end before the road. The middle was cool, very tough especially due to the preceeding days of rain.

Fun training set by Maximus. So nice to be out in the forest after a break due to impalation by thorn and proceeding surgery. Good technique, and followed Max for a little, mid course, impresive O!

Dev and I ran a middle distance simulation, with middle and qualification. Legs recovered well from the morning, so I could run at a pretty good intensity. A little hesitant in the beginning, finding the tracks and identifying the features in the terrain but then found some really nice middle distance flow.

Tough long training, focusing on route choices. Not the greatest technical performance, and got really tired towards the end. Ran with Dev for a bit, then was impressed when Matt came storming past us. Unfortunately he rolled his ankle in a small pit, so endeded his orienteering for the weekend. Solid lång pass.

Great start to a beast training weekend. Recovering from a flu I picked up late last week, so not feeling 100%. Coughed up copious amounts of mucus which was probably good for the clearing the system. Mass-started with Devon and Matt. We had slightly different, gaffled, courses which made it quite interesting. We all missed the first control, after that I was largely running by myself. Mostly good technically, bar a few minor mistakes or the map being a little strange in the coast. Good fun.

Middle Final. Started 2 minutes in front of Devon, but think he finished a few seconds faster than me. Cool to see him smash a middle! Not a bad race, unsure about the long leg to the 10th. Struggled up the steep hills, but for the most part it was ok. Solid training day!

Fun tempo session at the weekly summer series. Was lucky enough to do the race head to head against NZ's premier scholar, who has quite the speedy engine.

Despite the low technical challenge, was still good to have map in hand and be running at a higher intensity. More fun than just a straight tempo/interval session in my mind. Started off quite strong, but began to fade towards the end, just as the scholar moved into 6th gear. Beautiful evening for it, including two summits of One Tree Hill. Nice to catch up with some people too!

First technical training of 2016 and hence very rusty with the technique. I have not wanted to touch a map for a very long time, since last year, but recently I have felt the erge grow. Also entered Nationals today which will help the motivation, but I have decided to have a sabbatical from international orienteering this year to focus on other things.

Started off fairly tired, recovering from a 5hr mtb mission yesterday with Neil and Greg along the Moerangi MTB Trail. Nice to turn up to the parking and see the Moore family chilling after their MTB ride. Decent run to the start, but quite happy with that as I wanted to have a longer session.

Tried to focus on the technique as I know the speed is not there right now. Was very rusty tehnically, not helped by a bubble in my compass. (2) - was straight on, but I was not 100% confident coming over the final ridge and looked left and noticed a height which I thought was the control. (6) - again not clinical enough in the circle. The corridors were ok, but tough in the lupine filled dunes. Second corridor I opted out of, starting to get a little tired. Smashed out the "interval", although only just broke 5min/km so a lot more speed too come (HR was also 10 beats less than race pace, indicating fatigue)!

Overall really happy to be back in the forest, finding some challenges again. A lot to work on, but its a start.:)
